Thebe T

Dear Friend,

SSP alumni continue to amaze.  We share with you the story of Thebe Tsatsimpe (SSP Class of 2004) and Amherst’s College alumnus who has just begun his Masters in public administration and international development at Harvard University. Thebe’s class of 70 hails from 31 countries.  As his first month of classes comes to a close, Thebe acknowledges “I’m in for quite an intellectual challenge, but a rewarding one.”  He’s even brushing up on his salsa skills with Latin American classmates. There are future Thebe’s among SSP’s current Scholars – young South Africans ready to make a difference at home and around the world.   Thank you for your continued support of their dreams!

SSP School:  Class of 2006, Redhill School, Johannesburg Undergraduate Studies: Class of 2011, Mathematics and Economics, Amherst College What are you studying at Harvard?  Masters in Public Administration / International Development What did you do before Harvard?  I worked in South Africa at McKinsey & Co as a Public and Social Sector Consultant supporting African governments to develop detailed implementation plans and supporting structures. What is your long term goal?  To return to South Africa and work in a strategic department such as National Treasury, Trade and Industry, or Economic Development where I can be at the forefront of planning and enabling the country’s growth and economic development strategy.  I am keen to develop my expertise in economic analysis and better understand qualitative and quantitative issues that influence a country’s growth path.
