Melody Silindinkosi Dube will soon realise her dream of studying Actuarial Science after obtaining eight subject distinctions in the IEB matric examinations. She received distinctions in English, Mathematics, Accounting, IsiZulu, Physical Science, Life Science, French and Life Orientation. She obtained 77 for Advanced Mathematics resulting in a B symbol.

Described by her SPO and teachers as a determined and resilient young woman, Melody served in the mathematics outreach programme at her school and as the deputy head of peer counselling.

She contributes her results to hard work and the support she received from her parents, teachers and SSP Scholar Programme Officer Ms Lillian Saïd. Investec through SSP supported her high school career and will continue to support her as she has received the Investec bursary to pursue her studies at the University of Cape Town.

Melody aspires to become a role model to younger girls and hopes to get more involved in initiatives that aim to better the quality of education received by scholars in South Africa.
