Keiana West joined the SSP Team through the Princeton in Africa Fellowship and is working as a Research and Monitoring & Evaluation Fellow. She is responsible for the implementation and improvement of monitoring systems across the organisation, as well as leading evaluations of our various programmes. She loves being part of the SSP Team because everyone holds a strong passion for children, regardless of their roles.
Keiana graduated from Williams College in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Africana Studies. She exercised her passion for youth empowerment throughout her undergraduate career by co-developing an after-school mentoring programme and free summer leadership programme for primary school students in her hometown. She soon developed an interest in community-based research and conducted her Honors thesis on race and gender bias in attitudes towards students in Massachusetts public schools.
She fell in love with South Africa after studying Social & Political Transformation for a semester in Durban in 2017. Keiana is extremely grateful to have the opportunity to work in the education sector in Johannesburg!
