When the Student Sponsorship Programme (SSP) was started 20 years ago, it was a pioneer in the field of provision of a world-class high school education to gifted Scholars from the least resourced communities.
20 years later, SSP takes pride in its continued leadership in this area and contribution to the development of leaders in every field with both national and global impact. And, as a sign of its continued relevance, the organisation is proud to announce the launch of its new identity, updated logo, and website. These changes come at a time when SSP is emerging from the COVID-19 lockdown which has been a time of reflection and recalibration.
“In the last year, SSP has successfully evolved the Programme into a high quality Leadership Award that will continue to bring to life our long-term mission to Develop leaders through academic excellence,” said Agnes Sibanda, Executive Director of SSP. “Our new website and brand identity better reflect our leading position and demonstrates the comprehensive suite of services that we offer our Scholars while creating pride and a sense of community in our Alumni, and stakeholders”.
Designed to work effortlessly across digital and physical channels, the updated logo reflects the prestige of the opportunity, while the gold leaf symbolises the socio-economic restoration that takes place in families and communities when there is an investment in exceptional talent.
The newly redesigned website retains its simplicity and features easy-to-navigate pages and updated, simplified messaging. Expect to see and hear more from the distinguished SSP Scholar Alumni community.
“While our logo and website have been updated, we have also shortened our name to simply read – SSP”, continued Agnes Sibanda. “Our new identity is an innovative and modern one, reflecting our South African roots, even as our impact is global.”
SSP partnered with Johannesburg agency Asante Blush and graphic design consultant Lehlogonolo Legoabe (Alumnus, King Edward VII, 2004 – the inaugural class), to capture the history and future aspirations of the organisation in this new look.
The brand identity will go live on 20 October, 2020, in celebration of SSP’s 20th birthday, and in anticipation of a festive 21st year.
SSP has a 20-year track record of identifying very talented potential future leaders from South Africa’s under-resourced communities, educating them at the top performing private high schools, and providing best-in-class leadership development support that prepares them for tertiary studies and their future careers.
