Zandile Bekwa is the SSP Graduate and Alumni Associate and an SSP alumnus (St. Mary’s School, Waverley, Class of 2006). Her role involves tracking and engaging with previous beneficiaries (alumni) and running career guidance programmes for current scholars.
As a Nelson Mandela Scholar, Zandile holds an Amherst College BA cum laude, majoring in Theatre & Dance and Political Science. She is passionate about youth development, education, the arts and social transformation.
Zandile worked as project manager on the Gauteng Department of Education’s Learner Support Agent Programme whereby she trained and managed over 400 youth peer educators in secondary schools across the province. She has also worked at loveLife where she coordinated the youth peer educators (GroundBreakers) and managed the loveLife youth centre in Orange Farm, Johannesburg.
Her work in the arts and youth development space includes working at Drama for Life (University of the Witwatersrand) and volunteering at the Department of Sports, Arts, Culture & Recreation, as a facilitator.
