As the Career Conference wrapped up on Saturday, 30 May, the day shifted from classroom to boardroom and then to something warmer. SSP hosted its Alumni Network Reunion, a sundowner-style evening at WPP Johannesburg HQ in Woodmead, Sandton, bringing together SSP alumni for a night of reflection and reconnection.

 

48 Alumni attended the event representing graduating classes from 2004 to 2023.

 

The evening had no set agenda beyond the one that matters most: giving alumni space to find familiar faces, meet scholars from cohorts they never overlapped with, and rediscover just how far the SSP network now reaches — into law firms, hospitals, banks, start-ups, and boardrooms across the country. For an organisation built on the idea that one scholarship can ripple outward for a lifetime, a room full of alumni is the clearest proof of concept SSP has.

 

“It’s not just about building friendship or nostalgia or talking about the old days ( though those are very nice) – It is a living ecosystem of talented people, who support one another, who look out for one another, who open doors for one another.”
